Every Salman Khan film is either a super hit or super-duper hit. Does that mean all of them are great movies? Perhaps no. And definitely not Race 3.
This one has nothing to do with original Race series. Anil Kapoor, as a don in UAE has bizarre motive of going back to his hometown Handiya to resume a life of peace and dignity. He entrusts this responsibility to his three children (Salman, Saqib & Daisy) and their friends (Bobby & Jacqueline). What follows is predictable sequence of betrayal and counter-betrayal. Finally less-bad prevails over more-bad and they live happily ever after.
Change of star cast and director has altered the fate of Race 3. Remo D’Souza couldn’t match the sense and sensibility of Abbas-Mustan. The classy twist & turns which was hallmark of Race series is terribly depicted here. Trust me, they aren’t beguiling anymore.
Except for Salman none of the actors have done justice to their roles. I feel the problem lies with the casting. Come on, who on earth can believe that Jacqueline, Saqib, Daisy & Bobby (even if put together) are capable of pulling off a con over Salman. Some of the governments & countries have failed to do that in the past!!
Coming to the Eid-specialist, the one-and-only SALMAN KHAN. Man has made up for his poor acting by looking drop-dead gorgeous. Good looks, chiseled body & terrific fashion sense makes him sizzle on screen. Alas, everything else in the movie is a disaster. Bad acting, poor direction, sloppy action scenes, disastrous choreography, unpleasant music & blunt story. How could Sallu bhai makeup for all of it!
The verdict: Salman fans won’t listen to anyone and throng the cinema halls over this weekend. So no point in advising them. But rest of you (whatever few are left) can give it a skip and enjoy the rains with some hot snacks and tea, at the comfort of your cosy home. We have to look elsewhere for the eidi this year!!
